          Milling spline process

          For the milling spline process, because the active gear matched with the spline is matched by large diameter interference, the interference is 0.006-0.013 mm, and the small diameter has clearance, the general three-sided edge milling cutter or blade milling cutter can be used to process the small diameter to approximate arc.

          The processing process is described as follows:

          1) The parts are clamped on the horizontal milling indexing head and tightened with a half-pin.

          2) Adjust the apex position, the height difference of the outer circle is less than 0.01 mm.

          3) Peripheral runout (<0.05 mm) was measured with a percentile meter.

          4) Draw the center line of the key width according to the center height of the indexing head and turn 180 degrees to verify the center line (the error is basically unchanged).

          5) The allowance of grinding spline width is 0.4 mm, and the hexagonal bond width lines with 6.4 mm bond width are drawn respectively.

          6) Turn the center line of the key width 90 degrees to the highest point.

          7) Keyboard width is milling one side of 6 key width with a 6 mm thick three-sided edge milling cutter. The worktable moves the distance of "key width + tool width" to milling the other side.

          8) Rotate the indexing head to approach the arc of the keyway.

          The processing results are analyzed and discussed below.

          1) The general three-edge milling cutter used in side milling should be determined according to the specific parameters of spline and the specifications of the three-edge milling cutter. If the width of the three-sided edge milling cutter is B, it should satisfy the following requirements:

          B < 2hcos (180 degrees/N) (1)

          In formula: H - the width of the small diameter on each keyway;

          N - The number of keys in a spline.

          The value of milling cutter width B should not be too large to avoid milling the other side of the keyway. The H value can be calculated by the following formula:

          H(pi d-NL)/N(2)

          In formula: D - spline path;

          L - The width of the spline with the allowance for grinding the spline side.

          Substitute Formula (2) into Formula (1), that is, there are

          B<((pi d-NL)/(N/2)*cos(180 degrees/N)(3)

          2) The tri-edge milling cutter or slice milling cutter should be selected according to h to modify the small diameter and be machined into approximate arc.

          3) If the center is centered by a small diameter, 0.2-0.3 mm of diameter abrasion should be set aside.

          4) Processing splines with three-sided edge milling cutters and chip milling cutters can meet the design requirements, reduce manufacturing costs and improve the efficiency of medium and small batch production.
